1. About the Scheme

Huawei Technologies (Ireland) Co., Ltd. (“Huawei”) is pleased to announce the Huawei Solar Sports Scheme (the “Scheme”), a grant programme designed to support and invest in grassroots sports clubs across the community. The Scheme reflects Huawei’s commitment to social responsibility, community development, and the promotion of healthy, active lifestyles through sport.

The Scheme will award five (5) cash grants of €10,000 each, totalling €50,000 in available funding, to eligible sports clubs that demonstrate a clear need for financial support and the capacity to deliver meaningful benefit to their members and the wider community.

2. Key Dates

The following key dates apply to the Scheme:
• Applications Open: 3 June 2026
• Application Closing Date: 31 August 2026
• Winners Announced: 14 September 2026

Huawei reserves the right to amend these dates in exceptional circumstances. Any changes will be communicated promptly via official Scheme channels.

3. Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to apply for a grant under the Scheme, applicants must satisfy all of the following criteria:
• The applicant must be a sports club or sports organisation.
• The applicant must be a legally registered entity (e.g., incorporated as a company, registered as a society, association, or other recognised legal structure) and be able to provide evidence of such registration upon request.
• The applicant must be based in, or primarily serving a community within, the jurisdiction in which the Scheme is operating.
• The applicant must have a valid bank account in the name of the organisation to receive grant funds.
• The applicant must not be in financial difficulty, insolvency proceedings, or subject to any legal restrictions that would prevent it from receiving or properly administering grant funding.
• The applicant’s proposed use of funds must be related to sporting activities, facilities, equipment, development programmes, or other sport-related purposes.

The following are not eligible to apply:
• Individuals applying in a personal capacity.
• For-profit commercial businesses or professional sports franchises.
• Organisations that have previously been found to have misused or misappropriated grant funding from any source.
• Huawei employees, contractors, or immediate family members of Huawei judges involved in the adjudication process.

4. Grant Awards

The Scheme will award five (5) grants of €10,000 (ten thousand euro) each. Grants are cash awards paid directly into the bank account of the successful applicant organisation. Grants are not transferable to any other organisation or individual and may not be used for any purpose other than that stated in the successful application, without the prior written consent of Huawei.

Huawei reserves the right to award fewer than five grants if an insufficient number of eligible applications of satisfactory quality are received. Huawei also reserves the right not to award a grant in circumstances where it would be inappropriate or contrary to the objectives of the Scheme to do so.

5. How to Apply

The Scheme will open for applications on 3 June 2026. Applications must be completed using the official Huawei Solar Sports Scheme Application Form and submitted in accordance with the instructions set out therein. Applicants should read these Terms & Conditions and the Application Form guidance carefully before submitting.

All applications must be submitted no later than 31 August 2026 (the “Closing Date”). Applications received after this date will not be accepted under any circumstances. Huawei accepts no responsibility for applications that are lost, delayed, or incomplete.

Applicants may submit only one application per organisation. Multiple applications from the same organisation will result in all applications from that organisation being disqualified.

By submitting an application, the applicant confirms that all information provided is true, accurate, and complete to the best of their knowledge, and that they meet the eligibility criteria set out in Section 3 above.

6. Application Structure & Scoring

Each application will be assessed against six sections, each carrying a maximum score. The total available score is 100 points. Applications must address all six sections; incomplete applications may be marked down or disqualified at the discretion of the Judging Panel.

Section Description Max Score
1. About Your Club Completeness and clarity of club information 10
2. Your Story & Community Impact Strength of community role and inclusion 20
3. The Grant Proposal Clarity, specificity, and costed breakdown of spend 25
4. Expected Outcomes & Impact Concrete, measurable targets and realism 20
5. Financial Need Demonstrated need and proportionality of request 15
6. Sustainability Lasting benefit beyond the grant period 10
TOTAL 100

Section 1 – About Your Club (10 points): Applicants must provide factual information about their club including its name, sport(s), date of establishment, total membership, age profile of members, and legal registration details. This section is assessed on completeness and accuracy.

Section 2 – Your Story & Community Impact (20 points): Applicants must describe the role their club plays in the community. Judges will look for evidence of community engagement, inclusion, youth participation, and social benefit. Maximum 250 words.

Section 3 – The Grant Proposal (25 points): Applicants must set out in specific detail what the €10,000 grant will be spent on, including a costed breakdown of expenditure. Vague or uncosted proposals will score lower. Maximum 300 words plus a budget table.

Section 4 – Expected Outcomes & Measurable Impact (20 points): Applicants must describe the concrete, measurable outcomes they expect to achieve as a result of the grant. Judges reward realistic, specific targets over general aspirations. Maximum 200 words.

Section 5 – Financial Need (15 points): Applicants must provide a short statement on the club’s current financial position and explain why the grant is needed. This section assesses the degree to which the grant would make a material difference. Maximum 150 words.

Section 6 – Sustainability (10 points): Applicants must explain how the benefit of the grant will be sustained beyond the period of funding. Judges reward investment that unlocks lasting impact rather than one-off costs. Maximum 150 words.

Applicants may also submit optional supporting evidence (maximum 2 pages) such as photographs, letters of support, or detailed budgets. Supporting materials will be considered by the Judging Panel but will not attract additional points beyond the six scored sections.

7. Selection & Judging Process

Applications will be reviewed and assessed by a panel of Huawei staff (the “Judging Panel”). The Judging Panel will score each eligible application against the six sections described in Section 6 above and select the five highest-scoring applications as grant recipients, subject to the exercise of the Judging Panel’s reasonable discretion.

The Judging Panel’s decision will be final and binding. No correspondence will be entered into regarding individual scores, decisions, or the outcome of the selection process. Huawei reserves the right to seek clarification from any applicant during the assessment process.

Huawei is committed to ensuring that the judging process is conducted fairly and impartially. Where a member of the Judging Panel has a conflict of interest in relation to any application, they will be required to declare that conflict and recuse themselves from assessing the relevant application.

8. Notification of Outcome

The five successful grant recipients will be announced on 14 September 2026. All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application in writing (including by email) on or around this date. The results will also be published via Huawei’s official communications channels.

Successful applicants will be required to confirm their acceptance of the grant and their agreement to these Terms & Conditions within ten (10) working days of the announcement date. Failure to respond within this timeframe may result in the grant being withdrawn and awarded to an alternative applicant.

9. Grant Conditions & Reporting

Acceptance of a grant award is subject to the following conditions:
• The grant must be used solely for the purposes set out in the successful application. Any material change to the proposed use of funds must be notified to Huawei in writing and approved in advance.
• Successful applicants must provide Huawei with a written report within six (6) months of receiving the grant, confirming how the funds have been used and demonstrating the impact delivered.
• Successful applicants must retain financial records relating to the expenditure of grant funds for a minimum of five (5) years and make such records available to Huawei upon request.
• Successful applicants must acknowledge Huawei’s support in any communications, publications, events, or promotional materials relating to activities funded by the grant.
• Huawei reserves the right to carry out monitoring visits or audits to assess how grant funds are being used.
• In the event that a successful applicant fails to comply with these conditions, or if it transpires that the application contained false or misleading information, Huawei reserves the right to require the repayment of the grant in full.

10. Data Protection & Privacy

Huawei will collect and process personal data provided as part of the application process in accordance with applicable data protection legislation, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and any national implementing legislation.

By submitting an application, applicants consent to their organisation’s name and a brief description of their project being published publicly in connection with the Scheme in the event that they are selected as a grant recipient.

11. Intellectual Property

Each applicant retains ownership of any intellectual property contained within their application. However, by submitting an application, the applicant grants Huawei a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use the content of the application for the purposes of administering and promoting the Scheme.

12. Liability

Huawei shall not be liable for any loss, damage, or expense suffered by an applicant or third party arising from or in connection with the Scheme. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Huawei’s total liability shall not exceed the value of the grant awarded to the relevant successful applicant.

13. General

These Terms & Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Ireland. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish courts.

Huawei reserves the right to amend these Terms & Conditions, or suspend or discontinue the Scheme at any time. Any amendments will be published via official Scheme channels.

If any provision of these Terms & Conditions is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
